MY STORY

When I began learning Western classical piano at 8 years old, I instantly fell in love with the feeling of my fingers gliding across those 88 keys. Early in my musical journey I discovered my ability to discern the chords and melodies of any given song, and this amplified my love for music tenfold. My favorite hobby to date has been creating original piano covers of my favorite mainstream songs, be it R&B, hip hop, or Bollywood. What started as recreating the prominent melodies and chord progressions has evolved into dissecting the chord inversions, supporting harmonies, and everything in between- attempting to emulate a full band with 10 fingers.

During the pandemic, my love for music manifested through an entirely different medium: remixing. I became involved in the Indian-American DJ community and learned to use music theory & audio software to blend English and Bollywood songs. I came to a turning point in my creative endeavors when I realized that mixing could be a superpower in the dance world; by making original mixes for my choreography, I could have complete creative control and develop the vision for my pieces from scratch.

At UCLA, I’ve had the chance to dive headfirst into the music business through the Herp Albert Music Industry program– providing strategy consulting to real on-the-rise artists with direct mentorship from industry giants. As a member of UCLA Radio I get to write monthly articles about relevant topics in music, execute artist interviews and press coverage of live music events, and host my very own radio show called "Soundtrack 2 My Life."
