DEVELOPING A MACHINE-VISION SOFTWARE TOOL

Simply put, machine vision systems can “see” the world using cameras with advanced coordinate systems that interpret their surroundings. Machine vision has tremendous value in the manufacturing industry since it can automate functions in factories with unsafe or inaccessible conditions.

MY RESPONSIBILITIES

Conducted usability tests on non-technical users & compiled key usability issues for next prototype

Lo-fi prototype testing

Planned & executed usability sessions with real technical users during 3-hour client evaluation

WHAT I LEARNED

  • Implemented UX practices in the company’s first engagement with a new business unit

  • Planned & conducted UX research in an entirely unfamiliar product space, influencing both hardware and software product designs

  • Worked cross-functionally with designers, product managers, & engineers and learned to navigate each stakeholder’s needs

Mid-fi client evaluation

One of my personal favorite parts of this project was building a Wizard of Oz prototype to help participants visualize the journey flow during lo-fi testing. Made from wire & a pool noodle :)
